About UKLO Proceedings

UKLO Proceedings is an annual open-access publication showcasing peer-reviewed papers presented at the Annual International Scientific Conferences organized by the University "St. Kliment Ohridski" – Bitola (UKLO), North Macedonia, beginning with the 2024 edition. The aim of the UKLO Proceedings is to provide global access to high-quality, multidisciplinary research, reflecting the university’s commitment to academic excellence and open knowledge dissemination.

Published primarily in digital format to ensure broad accessibility, the UKLO Proceedings also offers printed editions for institutional archives, library collections, and authors who prefer physical copies.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the UKLO Proceedings undergo an initial evaluation by a member of the editorial team. During this preliminary assessment, submissions may be declined without being sent for peer review if they are deemed to lack sufficient quality or fall outside the UKLO Proceedings’s scope. Those that pass this stage are then subject to a fully anonymous, double-blind peer review conducted by experts in the relevant field. All manuscripts under review are handled with strict confidentiality until publication.

Open Access Policy

UKLO Proceedings is an electronic and fully open-access publication, which means that all articles are freely available, ensuring maximum, worldwide dissemination of content. The UKLO Proceedings provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. The main principles of open access we support are:

• peer-reviewed literature should be freely available without subscription or price barriers;
• literature is immediately released in open access format (no embargo period); and
• published material can be re-used without obtaining permission as long as a correct citation to the original publication is given.

UKLO Proceedings accept and is guided by the BOAI definition of open access:

"By open access to [peer-reviewed research literature], we mean its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution, and the only role for copyright in this domain, should be to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited."

*University St. Kliment Ohridski in Bitola have endorsed the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), the principles of the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA), and the Action Plan on Diamond Open Access.
